AI DISCOVERY

Can AI search understand what your business does?

When a customer asks ChatGPT, Claude, Google AI Mode, Gemini or Meta AI for help, clear and verifiable information matters. We help make your business, services and expertise easier to find, understand and reference.

Understand the problem. Choose the next step. Measure what changes.

WHAT WE LOOK AT

What we can help with.

Clear business and service information

Make the business identity, services, market and expertise consistent across your website and relevant third-party profiles.

Structured information

Use accurate page structure and appropriate schema to explain the business. Structured data is a clarity tool, not a promise of inclusion.

Helpful content

Answer the questions customers ask before choosing. Use clear service explanations, useful comparisons and evidence you can support.

Reviews & third-party signals

Review credible external mentions and authentic feedback that can help people and systems verify what your business does.

AI prompt testing

Test relevant questions across selected systems and record dates, prompts, sources and competitors. Responses can vary by user, location and time.

Citation & source monitoring

Track whether your site or other reliable sources appear in tested responses. Distinguish mentions, citations and referral traffic.

PLAIN LANGUAGE FIRST

Clarity before acronyms.

AI Search VisibilityThe practical question is whether a system can find, understand and verify useful information about your business. GEO and AEO describe approaches to that work; they are not shortcuts to guaranteed recommendations.

USEFUL QUESTIONS

Questions you may have.

What are GEO and AEO?

Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) focuses on making information useful to AI-generated answers. Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO) focuses on clear answers to questions. Both rely on helpful, credible information and sound technical foundations.

Can you guarantee a ChatGPT recommendation?

No. AI systems decide what to retrieve and include, and their responses change. We can improve clarity, investigate visibility and monitor tested questions; we cannot buy or guarantee organic recommendations.

Is AI search visibility the same as AI advertising?

No. AI search visibility concerns organic discovery. AI advertising involves paid placements, which should be clearly labelled and separate from organic answers.

WHAT THE GUIDANCE ACTUALLY SAYS

Clear information beats AI buzzwords.

ACCESS

Start with pages that can be found.

Google says its usual SEO foundations apply to AI Overviews and AI Mode. We check crawl access, useful internal links and whether key information is available as text.

CLARITY

Make the business understandable.

Explain your services, market, products and contact details consistently. Structured data should describe what visitors can actually see. There is no special “AI schema” that guarantees inclusion.

EVIDENCE

Record what changed.

We record the question, platform, date, answer and cited pages. Repeated checks can show changes; one answer is not a permanent ranking or a complete measure of visibility.

OAI-SearchBot supports ChatGPT search discovery. It has a different purpose from GPTBot, which relates to model training. We review the relevant crawler controls rather than treating all AI bots as the same.

What we can measure: observed mentions and citations, relevant search traffic, referrals, enquiries and purchases where tracking is available. We distinguish measured results from assumptions and never promise a recommendation.

DISCOVERY ACROSS AI SYSTEMS

One clear business. Different discovery paths.

There is no universal AI ranking and no tool can guarantee a recommendation. Each system finds and selects information differently, so the practical work starts with public access, accurate business facts, useful pages and evidence people can verify.

CHATGPT

Allow search discovery.

OAI-SearchBot supports ChatGPT search. We check access, clear page content, useful citations and referral traffic.

GOOGLE AI MODE & GEMINI

Build on search fundamentals.

Google says pages must be indexed and eligible for a search snippet. Helpful content, internal links and accurate structured data still matter.

META AI

Strengthen your wider presence.

Meta AI can search the web and also draws on information within Meta products. We keep website and owned-profile information consistent without claiming a ranking shortcut.

WHAT WE RECORD

Measure observations, sources and outcomes.

AI answers can change by wording, location, platform and date. A useful review records the exact prompt, whether the business appeared, which sources were cited, the landing page visited and any enquiry or sale that can be measured.

  1. PromptQuestion, platform, location and date
  2. EvidenceMention, citation and linked source
  3. VisitReferral and landing page where available
  4. OutcomeEnquiry, booking or purchase where tracked

Monitoring platforms can help: tools such as BrightLocal or Local Falcon can repeat local prompts and compare observed mentions. They are measurement tools, not direct ranking factors. SearchPathway selects tools only when they fit the business and scope.
